About PBSS

Providence Black Studies Syllabus (PBSS) is a community-based program focused on teaching Black Studies as a foundation for social change. Each teach-in, workshop, and class will be uniquely tailored to the specific learning goals and capacities of requesting entities.

PBSS believes that all students are capable of critically engaging with complex and controversial history. As such, PBSS sessions are designed to provide theoretically grounded historical education to support oppression-resisting communities seeking to use engaged scholarship as a mechanism for movement-based organizing around issues of racial justice, equity, and power sharing.

[Sessions requested by individual community members are offered free of cost.]
